Stump grinding in Courtenay
Courtenay Tree Removal grinds stumps and buttress roots to roughly 20 to 30 centimetres below grade, enough for turf, paving or a replanted tree. We grind across Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland for $200 to $600, quoted separately from the removal that comes first.

How deep do we go?
Deep enough for what you are putting on top. Turf needs less than a driveway. Tell us the plan for the ground and we will set the depth to it rather than grinding to a number that means nothing to you. Our machine grinds through the wood and root system quickly, making stump work far faster than full tree removal.
What happens to the grindings?
They come out as a pile of chip and soil, several times the volume of the stump. We can rake wood chips back into the hole on your Comox property or haul them away. Left in place they will drop over the first winter, so top the spot up in spring before you seed it.
Can you plant a new tree in the same hole?
Not straight into the grindings. They are mostly wood, and wood pulls nitrogen out of the soil as it breaks down. When replanting in Cumberland, dig out remaining mulch, add fresh topsoil, and plant beside the old stump site.
